        what if a museum - a prominent place of stillness- exists in the ephemerality center of Istanbul -sirkeci-? 

    urbanX-cross-  questions the possible different spatiotemporalities in an urban museum as it is located under the area inbetween sirkeci square and marmaray metro station covered with the rapid flux of transcontinental passengers .

sirkeci, with no permenant residents around, can anyway be a  habitat for a museum as the urbanX-cross- itself is the reason for  citizens to exist in sirkeci. Thus, the museum shapes its own existance reason by several interactive programs to invite citizens including the adults, parents with the kids, teens etc.

the manipulation of time and the boundaries in between those two temporalities bring out the transient coincedences&collisions.

with the hypercriticism to the “do not touch” barriers in modern-day museums, urbanX-cross-  aims to touch civic life of istanbul by creating a transparent, participation based civic space.

it is the space for citizens to coincedence with civic life.

       as the crowds rushes through the axis between the tram line and metro, this flux forms its own spatiotemporality in a ephemeral way. So what if the bodily experiment of this axis encounters with stillness of a museum? The urbanX is exactly located on that line; it is fed by the tranciency and crowd of the sirkeci and proposes a civic space that manupulates that  spatiotemporality of the museum and the passage.

  what if one had a chance to be involved in a museum while he/she is rushing to work?

        what if urbanX changed the sense of time as manupulates it by stopping, accelerating and reduction?

what if one had chance to exist in both museum and a metrohall at the same time?

      urbanX makes the tramline-metroline axis itself a museum, an civic space with the encounters of various spatiotemporalities. Ephemerality of rushing to metro collides with the sereneness of an exhibition or the fluctuation of a concert. 

the nowadays barriers of museums, the lack of communication and interaction between the civic life and the museums is critisized in urbanx by being located on very of an urban axis but in a manipulative way of temporality. 

urbanX is in sirkeci, it does matches with civic life, and it does belongs to the civic life. with no safety fances, no solid facades on street level, no please do not enter signs, it is an urban civic space that holds spatiality of museum, transition, touristy and the everydayness.
